My Pride, My Joy
Hello everyone! I’m here to present my new Fan-fic series, “My Pride, My Joy!” I know it sounds like some kind of soap, but it’s actually a comedy like Fan-fic I’m working on. I was bored and I thought about making a Darren fan-fic again, but I thought, maybe we should tell it from Joy’s perspective. The klutzy nurse would have a more interesting story than the cool ex-con Darren. So send you compliments to the chief, I mean the author and tell me what you think. I will try to keep this fan-fic running on my free time.
Now our story begins…
Chapter 1
Mother of an Admirer
(It sounded like a good chapter title to begin with! ^_^)
===========================================
The setting of a lush green forest was present as the sun was high in the sky. The dew drops ran off the leaves showing a forest rich with purity, even though it wasn’t far from the city of Viridian. The trail was covered with dust that seemed dormant to be kicked up because of the wet spring season. Rattata ran a mock playfully as they tumbled and wrestled with one another and played tag with each other. Pidgey flew over the neighboring species of pokemon as they begin hunting for small food of worms and insects available in the forest. Their heads turned taking note of the nearby presence and then scurrying to nearby hiding places amongst the bushes and trees as they knew the scent and sound of the approaching presence was human.
“If you’re going to be stronger, then we’ll have to work on that inferiority complex of yours. You are too easily intimidated and underestimate yourself. You only show your guts when you get angry and just barely when you’re insulted because you always feel weak to let someone get to you.” The sound of a woman’s voice was lecturing another person as they walked down the path letting the heels of their shoes make contact with the dirt ground, wearing such casual shoes for a simple stroll. The woman wore a dress of dark burgundy and her nose was pointed in the air along with her lifted index finger of her right hand. Her eyes were closed as if she knew exactly where she was walking while using her sophisticated walk and tone of voice lecturing the girl beside her who was silent.
“Are you even listening to me Joy?” The sound of the woman’s voice pierced the air in a scold almost as she opened her eyes and looked to the girl at her side. The girl wearing the nurse like drabs lifted her head suddenly and looked over to the woman as she nodded quickly and nervously. “Wha…ah…yes! Yes Miss Dark!” The woman sighed and lowered her head as she heard the reply. “how many times do I have to tell you, it’s Janet. You don’t have to refer to me formally. We’re friends, not friends by family. Just because you are close with Darren doesn’t mean you can’t be close with me.” The woman begin to explain as Joy simply nodded to the explanation and lowering her head to look to the trail while she was lost in thought.
A close friend…she wished. She always thought of herself as nothing more than a travel companion to an infamous trainer who was brought into a rich family. She would sit there in the back and watch him fight his battles and even fight hers at times. She wanted the depressed trainer since he was always silent about his past and only told her he was once apart of Team Rocket and straying away from the further truth about his crimes, but deep down, she felt what happened to make him be filled with such depressed thoughts. Her mind couldn’t get past his image to forget him and focus on his mother’s words. His feathery dark hair that blew in the wind. His bright skin and strange colored sapphire eyes. Then there was the calm and smug expression he showed with his straight face that gave of an aura of crying emotions and gentle potential of friendship.
Darren’s mother volunteered to teach Joy how to become a better trainer. She had the potential of the next champion within an ordinary nurse, but yet, the woman thought she had an attention span of a little baby who went from a milk bottle to a passing fly. Even though Joy heard the mother refer to her “potential” she wasn’t sure if that was the real reason.
Her shoulders came up as she took a deep breath trying to make it seem like she was trying to take in the air while she was really cuddling herself while blushing. She couldn’t extinguish the thoughts of Darren that burned into her mind, so her smile came up involuntarily and she tried to turn while looking away to hide it from the young experience mother. The nineteen year old girl was so embarrassed when it came to thinking about the boy because he was so younger than her by two years. She couldn’t help how she felt as her ears were filled with her giggles on the inside of her mind while the sound of Janet’s voice was faint and barely heard over her own thoughts.
“Joy…Joy!” The nurse snapped out of her thoughts as she looked over to Janet with her blush fading form her face. The woman’s eyes squinted as she looked at the young girl wondering if the sound her calling her name out was the only thing she heard as she didn‘t hold back the urge to ask. “You didn’t hear anything I just said, No?” Joy stared and blinked at the hopeless expression on the woman’s face and then reached behind her head and gave it a rub as she took the question in a joking manner since the answer was obvious. She gave an awkward laugh as her she showed her teeth giving a bright smile. “Umm…Yes!”
The woman’s face gave a sour look. She crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes as she stared to Joy and then pouted for a split second as she stomped her heel of her shoe into the ground showing a bit frustration. “What did I just say then?” Joy smiled and twiddled her fingers nervously as she looked to her action trying to think. “Well…you said I had to get stronger…” Joy looked up to Janet after giving the short answer and then saw the expression on her face calm. Joy sighed in relief as she thought she was safe, until she felt something nudge into her head and frizzing her hair at the top.
“That’s what I said this morning smarty pants!” Janet yelled the words in frustration as her fist was grinding into Joy’s s head and roots of her hair and her fist being able to drill into her skin if she did it hard enough. Joy reached to the woman’s wrist as she tried to move her hand, but she was too strong. She should’ve expected that form a trainer such as her even for a woman. She was a famous woman after all.
Joy’s hand reached to realign her hair into place as she saw Janet standing looking around as if she was trying to scout something. She was on her knees as the dirt from the trail rubbed against her knees. She stood up and dusted herself off as she looked oddly to the mother. “Ms. Dark, what are you doing?” The woman closed her eyes and stood up tall as she bald her fist up and her hand shook with little control fighting the urge to grind her knuckles into Joy’s skull this time for calling to her like a formal old woman. “I’m looking for something even you can catch Joy! I heard there was one in particular that people want to catch out here…”
As Janet stopped suddenly, her ears picked up the sound of something wrestling from the bushes. She watched as a light violet shaded worm like pokemon squirmed across the path. It was slow as it moved and looked straight ahead as Joy and Janet stared at the pokemon as it went along. The pokemon suddenly stopped in the middle of the path and then turned it’s head to Joy and Janet. It’s head leaned to it’s left and simply gave out a small moped questionable sound of it‘s voice. “Wurm?”
“That Wurmple right there!” Janet said as she pointed to the worm like pokemon. Joy clapped her hands together happily as she saw the pokemon. The glimmer of her eyes were present as she stared toward it. “Oh! how cute! I never saw a Wurmple that color before!” The pokemon blinked and then looked at Joy and Janet oddly for another few awkward seconds. The pokemon then started to slither away as it went quietly leaving Joy as she followed it with her eyes set on it.
Janet growled and bald her fist and it shook violently as she had an angry look on her face. “Joy…Catch it!” Joy blinked and then jumped suddenly as she snapped back to reality. “Oh! Right!” The nurse reached for her pokeball as she smiled and then was about to run off until she felt the ball being snagged form her hand. She looked to the ball to see Janet had it in her grasp. “Wait…wha…?” Joy was confused as she looked to the mother who interfered with her coming question she tried to ask.
“Blissey is in this ball right? It’s obvious…” Joy’s expression changed to a questioned one as she scratched at her cheek with her index finger after hearing Janet. She rubbed the back of her head not wanting to admit she was pretty obvious when it came to her choice of pokemon. “Use someone other than the same pokemon over and over! You’re bound to be read like a book labeled “How this story was a happy ending”. Come on Joy!” Joy took the analogy roughly as she lowered her head. She reached for another pokeball as she was lost in thought again. “Using someone else…” She shook her head and then stood tall as her eyes gazed at her pokeball. She was wondering how bad she done with the rotation method to leveling up and battling. She didn’t believe she ever thought about the method even though she met so many trainers.
“Earth to Joy, The rare Wurmple is getting away!” Joy snapped out of it and shook her head as she looked up to Janet. She nodded and looked around frantically. “R-R-Right!” The nurse jumped up and then ran to the off beaten path of the forest. She then jumped into a nearby bush getting stuck as she wrestled around. She then kicked her legs and just as that, she was gone. Janet standing alone on the path slapped her forehead as she shook her head. “How could my son put up with her?” The woman asked herself as she felt weak in the legs just thinking about it as her bum rest on the ground now feeling fatigue.
